What is the typical seniority of leaders participating in the coaching program?

ING is very flat. The participants are all (as we’ve been informed) people managers (team managers, functional leaders). They are reaching further down in the organization (hence the larger volume). For this reason, the ability to coach and influence is highly and increasingly important to them.

Where are the leaders from?

The leaders are of various nationalities and they speak various languages.

How is this project being announced internally at ING?

This project is a part of ING’s extended coaching program, which focuses on top-down coaching, stakeholder involvement, agile coaching. The project will be heavily marketed inside the organization and leaders will be strongly encouraged to participate.

Why do I need an Independent Contractor Agreement?

It is important from a legal and tax point of view to clarify that your role as coach is an independent contractor and nothing else.

Why do I need liability insurance?

MNCs require compliance with their standards to third parties as well, and require cascading, which leads to these back to back arrangements. This is the  norm in terms of MNC requirements that have become more popular all over the world. This is a back-to-back arrangement between the client, us, and you. Also, it is a normal part of delivering professional services where MNCs are required to be compliant to their own regulations.

What does it take to be a successful coach in these coaching projects?

We prefer the following:

  • Working with fewer coaches, more often

  • Coaches that are easy to work with:

    • high speed, low drag;

    • effective communication;

    • disciplined execution;

  • Coaches delivering results:

    • Measurable leadership growth as seen in the eyes of stakeholders;

    • Positive Coach Value Contribution results;

How will the engagements be overseen by GCG?

On our side we have an administrator dashboard that gives us visibility into each individual coaching engagement. This enables us to support our coaches and their leaders if they run into challenges on the platform. You will see a support icon on the bottom right section of your Coaching Platform through which you can access tutorials and resources (our Knowledge Base), as well as our helpdesk.

How will I be evaluated?

We have various mechanisms to assess the coach’s performance, such as the Coach Value Contribution, backend platform data, and more. We will check in with you to see how things are progressing and how we can support your continued success.

What are the main platforms I will be using throughout this project?

To help you in this journey, we provide with with access to two main platforms, namely:

  1. The eLearning

  2. The Coaching Platform

The Knowledge Base is a coach-specific feature providing you with tutorials, tips, resources that will further support you in coaching leaders.

The eLearning teaches you WHAT you need to know, while the Coaching Platform guides you on HOW to deliver the coaching service.

What if the leader wants to continue the coaching process with me as a coach after the coaching engagement has ended?

There are some specific ING options available, although the short answer is that ING does not want a diversified or extended approach. In the past they had lots of different coaching services going on and that led to the current agreement we have with them.

A short background. The main reason why ING has contracted with GCG Coaching services is that they wanted to have ONE approach to coaching through ONE service provider, to support their leaders with ONE clear ROI on their coaching investments as an organization. We have offered ING a number of add-on options for after the coaching engagements are completed.

ING (and other clients) are very wary of upselling to their leaders by GCG (or their coaches) and also our mutual ACIC agreement specific explains that coaches should not do such until 6 months after working on a client account.

Based on the above please email us your request and then we can tell you what options are available.
